What caliper do I have? Is it local R31?
I have just bought a car but the previous owner couldn't remember much about the rear calipers only that they were ex R31.
I am now trying to get some pads.
I have checked the calipers and the p/n as follows;
drivers side rear p/n is k241-020C (cast aluminium) passenger rear is k241-021C (cast aluminium)
The only other p/n that is visible is on the (cast steel?) carrier/bracket (on both sides) is p/n K 332-053C 5
I have done some searches on the net and it LOOKS like they are a PBR caliper used on an R31 Skyline (rear)? The calipers also feature the abutments for a cable handbrake. The PBR website wasn't very helpful (useless actually).
Can anyone tell me exactly what I have?
Also, I have AP CP7600 calipers on the front. It looks like EBC don't do a pad in their "green stuff" range to suit these calipers. Can anyone verify this?
As this car is street driven, at the moment it looks like I will be going for a Project MU "street" pad both front and rear.
Has anyone had experience with the Project MU range?
I had the car ready to be jacked up last night for wheel removal (so that I could take some photos) but found I couldn't get the sockets, tyre brace or anything to fit onto the nuts because of the relatively small bore in the rim (15" Performance Superlight).
Damn these manufacturers who disregard common wheel nut sizes!
So now I need to borrow (and eventually buy) a thin wall socket to suit.
Can anyone recommend a socket? I have been advised that a Snap On 3/8 (single hex) unit will do the trick... apparently Snap On use better steel so the socket wall can be thinner but I am not convinced of that... I was using a Sidchrome unit which I have never had issues with...
I am almost certainly positive they are the same as my ones.
The numbers on mine are K332 - 053C5
If you need more proof take out a brake pad and compare it to this http://www.bendix.com.au/catalogue/9516. Use ther measurements to confirm it's what we think it is.
Here's a pic of ther nunbers on mine. Sorry for the pick but the number is the same on each caliper.
Cheers,
Matt

What you are seeing in your photo is the anchor plate p/n, which IS exactly the same as mine. Good stuff.
Your actual caliper p/n's should be as per my previous post (cast into the alloy);
drivers side rear p/n k241-020C passenger rear k241-021C
I think I could just make out drivers side p/n in one of your first photos. Squint a bit...
These are cast into the caliper itself and are difficult to eyeball when installed. I had to try a lot of weird camera angles to get my photos before I took the wheels off...
So, we have identical parts; the next questions is, did you get these from an imported R31 or an Aussie one... as I am informed that the pads are different.
Just out of curiosity, what pads do you intend to use?
I have some Project MU's (HC+ compound type) right now but they are a race setup and only really work when they are hot... the previous owner was doing a lot of track days. They are awesome when hot though...
I am mainly street driving so I am taking the hard pads out and leaving them aside for a track day...
To quote Greg "I would highly recommend the QFM A1RM for your situation. It's a Ferodo DS2500 equivalent performance wise, but still works from dead cold and is completely streetable."
And at around $110 per set is a lot cheaper as well.
I note with some interest that you managed to secure a complete R31 handbrake assembly.
Have you progressed any further with the installation?
I am looking at doing a similar thing with mine to replace the hydraulic handbrake. I want to use the R31 hardware and interface with the standard Mk2 handbrake arrangement.
