does anyone know what the number on the passengers side strut top mounting plate signifies?its a 5 digit number usually. ive asked a few people at shows etc and they havent been able to say with certainty what its for.anyone ???

Are the numbers 11918 or 11934? if so ,11918 is for 2Door and 11938 is 4Door.

i dont recall any numbers on the passengers side of any of the escorts i had in ireland or england,and i had five in total over there. maybe its a ford australia code?would love to know its significance

spoke to a bloke today who is trying to sort this code out, from what he has seen, the first number represents the build year, e.g.2 represents 1972.this seems to be across the board,be it an escort ,capri etc.the other numbers are still a mystery, but he knows a person working for ford that will check the archives and hopefully shed a little light on the matter.
