Half way thru installing my auto tunnel into the Mk1 scort. I have just noticed that one side of the auto tunnel mounts has 2 captured nuts for the cross member but the other side only has 1.

Is this normal? I assume not.

I think I have to remove the mounts anyway as the tunnel is rusted out behind them so to do the repair job properly I will remove them, let in fresh metal then remount...... May as well weld on a new nut if its supposed to be there.

Currently trying to get the rust out of those mounts....have bought a SupercrapAuto sand blasting tool which, as expected, is a useful as tits on a bull.

Any other rust removal ideas? Cannot get tools intot he mount so I am thinking along chemical lines.

Better off sandblasting Glenn. All those other Tonka toys are worthless, just like the door pin removal tool. I bought the UK one and threw it away. Made one myself and both Mk1 doors were removed in 10 minutes.
