I'd be looking at around a 13cfm unit. If you are painting 'in the backyard' you will probably only be using acrylic which will need a smaller nozzle size than 2pack. I think I have used a 1.4mm nozzle for acrylic in the past. Definitely need a water trap/regulator (usually a single unit). I've never used an oil trap, but that may depend on the compressor.
Gun quality will affect results. I bought a gravity feed unit for less than $100 but I could never get the same results as an 'old faithful' suction type. The suction types are much more user friendly as you have to have somewhere to hang a gravity feed gun (PITA sometimes).
