I have researched this a bit recently.
Twin cam services offer or will offer (as they told me) a drive in drive out conversion only, I don't believe they will supply individual parts, for somewhere between 7 and 10,000.AUD Ouch
Cost for parts as I have found are approximately:
Engine 990-2500 depending on where you shop and level of ancillaries
Twin webbers on manifold- 500-1500 depending on luck and age or new parts
Ignition computer 50-500 depending on luck and shopping
Throttle bodies aftermarket ecu vs original intake and computer cost vs performance 300-2500
Exhaust manifold 500-1000 depending on many things
engine mounts- 20-200 depending on if you make them or inport them
Water rail and water pump approx 850 imported
Sump 50-450 depending on welding skills or importing
Flywheel needs ring gear repositioned or perhaps there is a starter motor that fits with zetec flywheel and escort gearbox? 50-200 epending on friendliness with lathe or operator.
Im sure there are bits I have missed or costs that may be dramatically different.
The basic weber conversion is said to be good for about 165HP.
A pinto will achieve this for less but may be getting to the cost for return maximum. I believe the zetec will be cheaper to get 200-220 hp reliably than a pinto but I don't know if it has been done or if the claims of achievements were accurate.
Its all relatively newand needs people to do it.
If i do it im hoping to do it for about 3K but i have computer throttle bodies etc.
