as i said if i go threw with those plans , dunno mite do a duratec still looking into the advatanges of both

There are plenty of parts available, but mostly from England.
I picked up my 07 duratec 2.0 for $600 with 17k on the clock

Had a intake manifold (free) made for gsxr750 TB's cost $80 from USA.
will be swapping for Jenvey TB's later.
Bought a Haltech e11v2 for $1600 its the bigest waste of money so far as it wont work on this motor properly due to firmware problems.

RX7 g/box $650 bellhousing $580
Fiandaz Duratec flywheel $400 from USA
Clutchmaster clutch and pressure plate stage2-3 $400 USA

pistons $500, rods $500, springs and retainers $350 all on ebay USA
Takes very little over std hp and rev's to bend the stock rods
The stock crank is good for 8500rpm and 260hp, bearing are another must change item from what I hear. Steel crank $3500-$5500 (havent bought any internals yet)

So plenty of options and really whats the difference in pricing between duratec and zetec parts. The duratec is a better motor to start with, should be here for a long time with more and more going to the wreckers and ebay all the time.

building a race engine , the zetec seams to be cheaper and the likely way to go but its nice to know that duratec parts exist i really dont know what way to go being on a budget zetc will likely win tho

I never really intended this to be a race motor.
Dry sump was by no other reasonable options available
iTB's which seemed my best option as the stock maifold wont fit easily, will push me over 220hp at stock rev limit, so stock internals had to be replaced.
Type9 wasnt strong enough so rx box bellhousing.
All I wanted when I started this was a road legal escort with a modern motor.

Maybe I should have bought the zetec as well

im building for mk1 escort race car intended for improved production , but with be a spint car first while i learn the craft , this has gotten me thinking that a duratec could be fun , they both remind me of a cosi( way out of price range) thats why i love em , not partically fond of the pinto
