The sandwich plate with the numbers 26-E-004 does not fit with this lot, it's of a Lotus twin cam engine. Willie Meissner is South Africa built a SOHC conversion for the kent motor at one stage (I think using Alfa timing gear) he may have had a hand in this as well.

Bruce 26 is the Lotus prefix but I think you might find that this engine will predate a Lotus twin cam as it has a very wide valve angle resulting in an ugly piston and chamber and wouldn't make as much horsepower as it looks more of a mid to late 50's sort of thing

Sorry Danny I was not saying the head is Lotus but the sandwich plate is, I think it has gotten mixed up with the other parts and is not related for use on the engine pictured. I think you are on the right track with Jag based.
